Growing resilience through agroforestry in Gakenke

EVNA’s programme in Gakenke District brings agroforestry, soil restoration and sustainable agriculture together to strengthen community resilience.

The programme period described in our September 2026 booklet runs from October 2025 to September 2026, with support from African Rising, EVNA and community partners through in-kind contributions.

Activities include tree nurseries, indigenous tree planting, farmer training and youth engagement. Through the Food Basket Site (FOBASI) approach, this work connects climate-smart agriculture with ecosystem restoration and sustainable food systems.
